Gastroscopy and enteroscopy saves your health for a rainy day!

Stomach and intestines are two important digestive organs in human body, which are primarily responsible for food/energy digestion, absorption, and excretion. Due to frequent eating out plus huge life stress in modern days, many people have more or less gastrointestinal disorders.

The most common symptom in patients with stomach problems is epigastric stomachache while common symptoms include gastritis, gastric ulcer, gastric perforation, and gastric cancer. Viruses, bacteria, chemical, and environmental causes are all contributing factors to gastric disorders. Therefore, food hygiene is critical to daily diet when irritative food should also be avoided. Moreover, slow eating is recommended to prevent causing digestive problems in the stomach. Gastroscopy is often required to help determine gastric disorders in order to formulate effective treatment.

Intestines are the most important organs to absorb nutrients derived from food. Human intestines consist of large intestine (including colon, cecum and rectum), small intestine and duodenum. The most common small intestine disorder is acute enteritis, which is mostly caused by unclean food-induced symptoms such as diarrhea and fever. The most well-known duodenum disorder is duodenal ulcer, which is also caused by Helicobacter pylori, the primary cause of gastric ulcer as well. In recent years, the prevalence of large intestine disorders, including irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), intestinal obstruction, adhesion ileus and the very scary colon cancer, have increased. In addition to paying attention to the changes in defecation routines, the only way to keep healthy gastrointestinal tract is to consume proper amount of water and dietary fiber plus maintain the growth of gut flora, balanced diet and regular exercise!
